I just finished Long Journey, Short Steps today on my way home from the Far East. This was a really enjoyable book that kept me company while on plane and train rides. I just wish it wasn’t over. I want to spend more time with Duncan, Pharoah, Blam, Michael, and Jodi. And I hope a film version is coming along because I want to hear what Snowblind sounds like. Nice job, Jimmy. When’s the next novel coming out?

Long Journey, Short Steps is a fascinating and most enjoyable trip back into the tumultuous world of 1970s rock and roll. James Christen's style is fun and engrossing as he tells the story of a hot band on its way to the big time during the days of rock and roll legends such as Hendrix and Joplin. Throw in a murder mystery or two and tie in some of those legends to them and you've got a story that not only takes you back but one that you can't put down as it twists and turns into a finale that Sherlock would have enjoyed solving! A most enjoyable and unforgettable book recommended to anyone who grew up or lived during those times!

A delightful romp through the trials and tribulations of a band from Wisconsin, working the club circuit and trying to jump start their musical careers. Some personal demons, a sprinkle of humor and even a murder mystery all move the story along in 'cut time'. I love stories where I can jump into the characters and play along. I thoroughly enjoyed myself while reading. It was a gas!

Wow! I finished the book yesterday and was sad to have it end. What a great story! Heart thumping right to the end. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and hope this won't be your last. It was fun going back and looking at the pictures on the website after reading the book. I think what I liked most about the book is how I came to know the characters and really cared about how they felt.

Every time I hear a Beatles song on the radio, I think of your story. That alone is pretty amazing really, since my novel memory usually runs about three days. It was a fun read with lots of lasting visual images that I still see clearly.

Don't let the casual, laid-back setting mislead you. This is a page turner! This Magical Mystery Tour has come to take you away, and it does. The gigs, the van later on the way home, and most of all, the misadventures... we've all been there. But the outcomes are unexpected and engaging, with an ending that leaves you completely satisfied.
